The Detroit Drifting Co. skid plate features a bolt-on installation with no additional modifications required to your chassis or K-member. The skid plate is made from CNC cut 1/8” thick steel plate, and attaches via height adjustable mounting brackets at the steering rack mounts and the rear K-member mounting points. The height adjustment included in the mounting brackets accommodates a variety of engine/oil pan/k-member configurations.
OEM K-Member skid plate is designed to be most effectively used with factory style K-members, utilizing the K-member itself to add rigidity to the skid plate.
Tubular K-Member skid plate is specifically designed to work with most aftermarket tubular k-members. The special rear mounting brackets are designed to add some rigidity to the rear edge of the main plate, which ends just forward of the transmission bellhousing. We highly advise adding your own additional bracing to the main skid plate to suit your specific k-member and engine oil pan combination. This can be easily done by welding on readily available 1"x1"x1/8" steel square tube or angle iron. Some additional customization or modifications may be required depending on which k-member you have.
