The DDC quick release hub kit features a CNC machined, billet steel steering column adapter that is precisely machined in house. Our adapter features 2 or 4 flats, exactly replicating the drive shape of the OEM steering column stub with only .002" clearance whereas other options available can have a very loose fit and are made from soft aluminum that has been known to crack. Our adapter facilitates installation of the Sweet Manufacturing 6-bolt quick release, which is multi-splined and non-indexed.
The splined interface of the quick release is precisely machined as well, so there is absolutely no play or wobble of the steering wheel relative to the column. Since the splines offer a large amount of surface area to spread the radial loads from driver inputs, this is a significantly more robust design compared to the "detent ball" style connection that many competitors have adopted.
A spring-loaded retaining pin secures the quick release to the hub and is actuated by a traditional release ring/paddle without a finicky "lock-out button" that other systems use.
Due to the non-indexed multi-spline quick-release interface, along with the robust design of our steering column adapter, there are countless combinations of steering wheel positions for you to choose from. You CAN have a proper alignment, a centered steering rack, and a centered steering wheel!
